PD volunteers help with massive Get Out The Vote effort

Progressive Dane was part of a massive Get Out The Vote effort on the last weekend before the spring elections. There were over 110 lit drop routes covered and there were many GOTV phone calls made to constituents.

Faced with eight seats held by PD-backed incumbents up for re-election, PD again stressed the importance of hard work, neighborhood connections, personal supporters outside of the PD membership, and progressive values.

The candidates and their team that PD has had the opportunity to join have been nothing short of incredible. Those who deride the presence of political parties, especially PD, in local campaigns know neither what it takes to win nor how it would all be naught without the work of the candidates we support and the resources they bring on their own.

Please come celebrate with us at the Orpheum on April 5th at 8:00 as we watch the election results.

The final weekend did have its predictable ugliness, although the source of it was unexpected. Some democrats who funded the special interest group 'Citizens for Madison's Future'(click link for campaign finance report) sent out a last minute smear literature piece. Here is an example of the content. It appears that a handful of democrats participated in this, including the Dane County Democratic Party, the State Democratic party and several other prominent democrats.
