2005 was another succesful year for PD!
Progressive Dane had another successful year in 2005. We would to thank all the PD members and volunteers who worked hard to create a more progressive community. As 2006 begins, we would to take a moment to enjoy our accomplishments and thank our members for making PD as successful as it is.
Here are some of the highlights from 2005:
- Participated in the community conversation about paid sick leave and endorsed the effort. Details
- Helped re-elect all PD incumbent City Council members. Details
- Ensured that City budget prioritized human services.
- Offered extremely well received package of reforms to City's TIF policies. Details
- PD Council members were leaders in the Department of Civil Rights discussion and helped voice concerns raised by groups of color. Details
- Accomplished every one of our County Board level priorities for the year.
- Unveiled a thoughtful, well-received package of proposals to benefit small, locally owned businesses. Details
- Fought hard to improve Madison schools by supporting all three school board referendums.
- Made numerous appearances in media outlets such as WORT, Air America Radio, Channel 3, and Capital Newspapers to push for a more progressive and compassionate community.
- Sponsored the event 'Keep Hope Alive Globally, Act Locally' to vocally oppose the current administration. Details
- Helped pass 'Big Box' ordinance to set design standards for large retail establishments. Details
- Rallied the community, especially riders, against cuts to Metro. This effort successfully mobilized residents to turn around City Hall and made what used to be a quiet decision into a very public process. Details
