Progressive Dane has an opening on the Steering Committee and we want you to join!
So what is the process of joining the SC and the time commitment? To join the SC, come to the May GMM where we will be accepting nominations and electing a new member. You can either nominate yourself or nudge the person next to you and ask them to nominate you.
There are ten steering committee members and we strive for gender balance, so women fill at least 5 of these positions. There is one SC meeting per month, and SC members also attend the GMM. We also ask that SC members serve as a liaison to existing committees or taskforces. The liaison helps facilitate communication between SC and taskforces/committees and helps them achieve their goals. We also have quarterly meetings on special topics such as media, building membership, policy, or whatever the hot issue is at the time.
Progressive Dane would like to thank retiring SC member and co-chair Lisa Subeck for her years of service. During her tenure, Lisa was a key member who worked on both progressive public policy and electoral campaigns. Progressive Dane thanks Lisa for her years of committed service. At the May SC meeting, we will be hold our bi-annual co-chair elections.
The SC will play an important role over the next year, and we need your help to increase the quality of life for all the citizens in our community. Please consider joining the Progressive Dane Steering Committee!

We, the members of Progressive Dane, join together to form an independent political party in Dane County with a major focus on local issues. We pledge to work to improve the quality of life in Dane County for all people, particularly those marginalized by economic and social discrimination. We will work to improve our local government by making it open, easier to understand, and accessible for all citizens of Dane County. We are working to achieve positive policy change by electing accountable progressive officials and mobilizing citizen action.
