"Keep Hope
Alive Globally, Act Locally!"
MADISON, WI, January 1, 2005 - Progressive Dane announces an Inauguration Day Event, January 20th from 6-9pm at Café Montmartre, co-sponsored by Madison Area Peace Coalition. The evening will consist of an open mic and special guest speakers including Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, School Board Member Johnny Winston Jr., and John Stauber (co-author Banana Republicans and Weapons of Mass Deception).
"Recently the Wisconsin State Journal viciously attacked Progressive Dane in an angry, misleading and smearing editorial. It made me so proud to be a PD member, I wouldn't miss this event for anything!" said John Stauber.
The event will focus on ways to get involved locally where one can have a significant impact on political campaigns, issues, and agendas. Attendees can sign up for work on local issues and elections, write letters about fair elections, and speak publicly regarding recent election issues.
"Our hope is that feelings of frustration and disappointment resulting from the national election can be transformed and redirected toward the local political arena, where one's vote and voice can truly have an impact in developing policy and electing candidates." Kristin Forde, co-coordinator of the event.
